About Us

Located in the coastal town of Kittery, Maine, Taylor Lobster Company was established in 2003 but we are not new to the lobster industry. Owner Bret Taylor represents the fourth generation of his family to harvest and distribute Maine lobster.

As early as 1910, Bret’s great-grandfather Dan was lobstering and distributing his daily catch around the bordering town of Portsmouth, NH. It was there that Dan’s son, Sam (Bret’s grandfather) founded one of the most recognized and successful lobster pounds in New England – Dan LaCava & Sons Lobster. On the waterfront in historic Portsmouth, Sam LaCava operated his full-service wharf and lobster pound for over 40 years, serving lobster-loving markets in Boston, New York and beyond. Additionally, Bret’s father Steve, has been lobstering the shores of southern Maine for over 40 years and supplies many of the fresh-caught lobsters we sell each day.
